A middleweight fight between Kelvin Gastelum and Jack Hermansson will take place at UFC Fight Night 174 on July 18th at the UFC’s under-construction ‘Fight Island’ – the exact location of which still remains a mystery.

Gastelum fought for the interim 185lb title last year, but lost out by unanimous decision to Israel Adesanya and has since also suffered a split decision defeat against Darren Till.

Nevertheless, the former welterweight does have some big wins on his record during his time at middleweight, including having TKO’d Tim Kennedy, KO’d Michael Bisping and earned a split decision verdict over Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and currently is ranked No.7 in the division.

As for Hermansson, he is coming off a TKO loss against Jared Cannonier back in September of last year.

Prior to that Hermansson had been in fine form, racking up four wins in a row inside the Octagon, including a TKO stoppage of Thales Leites, submission victories over Gerald Meerschaert and David Branch, plus a unanimous decision victory against ‘Jacare’ Souza.

As such, Hermansson is currently placed just above Gastelum on the middleweight ladder at No.6.

Gastelum vs. Hermansson joins a UFC Fight Night 174 card that is expected to be headlined by a flyweight title rematch between Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez.
