A women’s bantamweight fight between Kelten Vieira and Macy Chiasson has been booked for UFC Fight Night 235, the first event of 2024 on January 13rd in Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old Vieira currently holds the No.4 spot on the 135lb ladder after winning three of her last four fights in the division.
That run began with decision victories over two former champions in Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, before then coming out on the wrong end of a split-decision against Raquel Pennington to start her 2023 campaign.
However, Vieira has since rebounded with a unanimous decision victory against Pannie Kianzad in July and will now look to start the new year with another win that could push her close to title contention in the weight class.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Chiasson hasn’t fought at all in 2023, with her last appearance being a body kick KO loss to Irene Aldana back in September of 2022.
With a 2-2 record in her last four fights that has also seen decision wins over Marion Reneau and Norma Dumont inbetween a submission defeat against Raquel Pennington that’s left her at No.9 on the bantamweight rankings.
Vieira vs. Chiasson joins a UFC Fight Night 235 card that doesn’t yet have a confirmed headliner, but will also feature the likes of Andrei Arlovski vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta, Norma Dumont vs. Yan Santos and Ricky Simon vs. Mario Bautista.
