A women’s bantamweight fight between Ketlen Vieira and Pannie Kianzad has been booked for UFC Fight Night 227 in London, England on July 22nd.
The 31-year-old Vieira is coming off a split-decision loss to Raquel Pennington back in January.
Prior to that Vieira had earned back-to-back wins over two former champions in Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, and as such she’s still placed at No.4 in the 135lb rankings heading into this fight.
Like her opponent, the 31-year-old Kianzad has also lost to ‘Rocky’ Pennington not so long ago, but she’s won five of her last six fights, beating the likes of Lina Lansberg, Alexis Davis, Sijara Eubanks, Bethe Correira and Jessica-Rose Clark along the way to take the No.7 spot on the rankings.
Vieira vs. Kianzad joins a UFC Fight Night 227 card that doesn’t yet have a headliner attached to it, but will also feature the likes of Molly McCann vs. Julija Stoliarenko and Marc Diakiese vs. Joel Alvarez. At one stage the UFC had hoped to book Leon Edwards to front the show, but he quickly ruled himself out as he doesn’t want to defend the welterweight title again until later this year.
