Kevin Holland was flash KO’d by a clash of heads during a controversial bout with Kyle Daukaus at UFC Fight Night 193 on Saturday night that also saw him subsequently being choked unconscious, before officials declared the outcome a no-contest, and just days later he was involved in another dramatic incident outside the Octagon.
Holland was driving down the street with his mom on Monday when he overhead a man shouting that someone had just stolen his car.
Holland could see the car driving off and so he went off in hot pursuit of the suspect, following him through a series of side streets before the thief crashed into a tree.
The UFC middleweight fighter got out of his car in an attempt to apprehend the suspect, only to find the car reversing back towards him and then speeding off again, so he got back into his own vehicle and continued to chase him down.
Ultimately the thief crashed into a trailer a few streets later and then tried to run off, so Holland pursued him on foot, kicked his legs out from under him and got knee on belly to keep him grounded.
At this point the owner of the stolen car, who had also been involved in the chase in a separate vehicle, approached and wanted to attack the thief, so Holland had to hold him off, while still apprehending the suspect.
At this point the crook started complaining about not being able to breathe, so Holland picked him up, but him in a scarf-hold to prevent him from running off until the police arrived.
Holland told TMZ Sports he hopes he might get a medal for his part in catching the thief, but despite the police telling him he should join the force, the fighter says he’s got other things on his mind right now – like learning how to defend himself from headbutts in the Octagon!
