A middleweight fight between Kevin Holland and Derek Brunson is set to headline UFC Fight Night 190 on March 20th at a destination still to be confirmed.
Holland had an exceptional run in 2020, putting together a five-fight winning streak in an eight month period between May and December.
Along the way Holland TKO’d Anthony Hernandez, Joaquin Buckley and Charles Ontiveros, earned a decision win against Darren Stewart, and most recently knocked out Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in the first round after initially dazing him with a punch while sitting on the mat.
That spree tied the UFC record for the most wins in a calendar year, and has helped him rise up to No.10 on the middleweight rankings heading into his next fight.
Now he meets Brunson, who is riding a three-fight winning streak, but has only fought once in the last year – a TKO victory against Edmen Shahbazyan in August, following on from decision victories over Elias Theodorou and Ian Heinisch in 2019, leaving him at No.7 on the 185lb rankings.
Holland vs. Brunson tops the bill on a UFC Fight Night 190 card that’s still in it’s formative stages, but will also feature Max Griffin vs. Song Kenan and Adrian Yanez vs. Gustavo Lopez.
