Kevin Holland Withdraws From UFC On ESPN 9

Up and coming UFC fighter Kevin Holland was hoping to help make a name for himself by fighting in the Octagon for the second time in the space of just two weeks this coming weekend at UFC On ESPN 9 in Las Vegas, but a hand injury has forced him out of the event.

Holland was set to fight Daniel Rodriguez in an ambitious turnaround just a fortnight after he TKO’d Anthony Hernandez in just 39 seconds to take his UFC record to 4-2.

Not only that, but Holland would have also been dropping down a weightclass from middleweight to welterweight for this swift return to action.

“Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to the scrap,” Holland said on Instagram. “I’ve done this rehab before and I hope to run through it as I did the last time. We will be back. First thing’s first, getting back healthy.”

As things stand it appears as if the UFC would like to keep his opponent Rodriguez on the card, but its likely to be harder than usual to find a late replacement due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rodriguez is currently on a seven-fight winning streak that culminated in a submission victory over Tim Means in his UFC debut back in February.
