Kurtis Campbell completely dominated Trevor Peek from the start through to his third round submission finish at UFC Fight Night 287.
Round One
Campbell with a teep kick to the body to start. He lands another and a low kick. Another couple of nice body kicks from him.
Peek with a punch to disrupt Campbell’s latest attack. Campbell lands a head kick. Peek wading forward with wild offense now. Peek has some blood trickling down from his right eye already.
Peek swings to the body. Campbell sizing up another attack, but then opts to clinch up and walks his opponent over the cage. Campbell looking for a takedown now and lands it. Peek quickly back up, but is hauled back down again. The same sequence plays out again. Each time Campbell gets him down he works back up, but can’t break free from the clinch.
Nice knee upstairs from Campbell. He threatens with it again. Campbell gets him down and now is able to keep him down and land some punches while going to mount. Peek gets out of the mount while still eating strikes and it soon back in the same spot again. He tries to wall walk to escape, but Campbell stays on top. Campbell ends the round continuing to land some ground-and-pound to his opponent’s bloodied face.
Round Two
Body punches from Peek. Campbell clinches up and gets Peek up against the cage. Campbell working on a takedown and gradually gets it. He works to the back as Peek goes to all-fours.
Elbow strike to the head from Campbell and then thought about the choke, but settles for maintaining control.
Peek works to his feet and tries to land a few punches as Campbell goes right back to working for a takedown, landing it soon after. He’s around to the back again and trying to find an opening for a rear-naked choke.
Half-guard for Campbell now. Around to the back again and gets the body triangle in now as he pulls him back onto him.
Campbell not having too much success getting under Peek’s chin, but he’s in complete control here and ends the round rolling back into mount.
Round Three
Calf kick for Peek, but eats a couple of punches in the process. Campbell shoots, but it’s stuffed.
Peek trying to wade forward behind wild punches. He manages to deter another takedown attempt by throwing those power punches in Campbell’s general direction.
Campbell carefully times another entry and then does manage to get Peek down. Peek stands quickly, but we’re back to same old routine of him going up and back down again as Campbell’s relentless wrestling pressure continues.
Campbell around to the back again as Peek tries to build back up. He goes to his back while sinking in the body triangle. Peek gets to his knee and tries to stand, but now Campbell is able to get his arm under the neck and drags him back down in the rear-naked choke, forcing him to tap out soon afterwards at 3:07mins of the final round.
