Latest Update On Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler Is More Positive

The ongoing saga regarding whether UFC 303’s main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will go ahead later this month has taken a more positive twist according to new reporting from Ariel Helwani.

“The vibes on Sunday were quite confused,” Helwani noted on his MMA Hour show.  “The vibes on Monday were quite pessimistic.”

However, without going into specifics, Helwani has now indicated that there is now encouraging signs that the fight will in fact go ahead as planned on June 29th in Las Vegas.

“As of last night and as of today, this morning, early afternoon…I can tell you there is great positivity that this fight is going forward.

“…As of right now, if you’re asking me, ‘Is Conor McGregor going to fight Michael Chandler on June 29th?

“My answer is yes.”

At this stage we still don’t know exactly what happened to cause the cancellation of the press conference on Monday, but based on everything that’s been said so far it seems possible that McGregor was suffering from either a minor injury or illness that left him unable to attend and put the fight at risk.

However, while the situation could change at any moment, for now it seems there’s renewed optimism that McGregor’s three year wait to get back into the Octagon will still end at UFC 303 in just over three weeks time.

“The vibes could not be any more different from Sunday and Monday,” Helwani reiterated.  The positivity could not be any greater than I was hearing on [Sunday and Monday].”
