Ludovit Klein got the better of Ignacio Bahamondes over three rounds tonight at UFC On ESPN 50.
Round One:
Nice straight left for Klein in the first exchange of the fight. Now a solid leg kick for Klein and Bahamondes puts together a quick combo punctuated with a head kick attempt.
Another exchange as these two strikers get straight to work. Klein lands a hard one-two. A couple of big left hands connect for Klein and have Bahamondes rocked for a moment.
Klein takes him down, but isn’t teeing off on him as Bahamondes tries to tie him up and buy time to clear the cobwebs. Big elbow lands for Klein. He looks for more offense and still has plenty of time left on the clock to work.
Bahamondes starting to look for submissions off his back now, but Klein steers clear of them. Elbow lands for Klein and Bahamondes now has a cut to contend with. Short hammerfists from Klein, but then Bahamondes is able to scramble and get back to his feet.
The bloodied Bahamondes is looking to shift the momentum now as he lands a couple of straight punches down the pipe. Klein looking to meet him half-way though in the final moments of the round.
Round Two:
Solid straight right for Bahamondes. Now a body kick from him. He lands an inside leg kick. Klein tries to flurry, but Bahamondes counters with an uppercut.
Grazing left hand from Bahamondes. Jab for Klein and a leg kick. Bahamondes threatens with a knee upstairs. left hand from Klein. Bahamondes with punches and a couple of big knees upstairs.
Bahamondes steps into a punch, but Klein nicely times a takedown. Bahamondes able to work back to his feet this time, but Klein stays clinched up against the cage.
They break apart. Short uppercut for Bahamondes. Now a jab. He lands another jab and a glancing straight behind it.
Leg kick for Klein. Kick to the thigh for him. Body kick for Bahamondes. Jab for Bahamondes. Head kick attempt is blocked. Now a jumping kick too that doesn’t pay off.
Solid kick for Klein. Jab from Bahamondes. Body-head combo for Klein. Front kick to the body from Bahamondes. left hook for Klein.
Jumping knee from Bahamondes misses. Klein drives into a takedown and lands it well. Bahamondes trying to get his legs up for a potential submission, but nothing doing and Klein ends the round on top.
Round Three:
Counter jab from Klein. Bahamondes with a body punch. solid left hand for Klein and then a one-two behind it.
Bahamondes clinches up and presses Klein into the cage. He lands a knee to the body, but then Klein moves away.
Left hand for Klein. Klein pumping out the jab. Bahamondes tries for a takedown and Klein stuffs it. They get back up to striking range.
Head kick attempt from Bahamondes. Snapping jab from Klein. Missed head kick from Klein but follows up with a side kick to the body.
Again Klein lands a hard jab. Leg kick for Bahamondes. Jumping knee from Bahamondes misses. Klein swoops into a good takedown. Klein in half-guard now with 90 seconds remaining.
Back to full guard and Bahamondes threatens to lock up a triangle choke attempt, but Klein escapes.
Bahamondes able to scramble to his feet, but Klein brings him back down. Bahamondes trying for a late leg lock, but not many seconds remaining and Klein makes it clear he’s fine as he showboats a little while defending it.
Decision:
No doubt about the winner here with Klein showing off the sharper striking and better wrestling to secure a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 29-28 x2).
