A women’s strawweight fight between Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill has been announced for UFC Fight Night 225 on May 13th at a destination that’s still to be confirmed at this stage.
The 29-year-old Dern comes into the fight off a majority decision loss to Yan Xiaonan back in October of last year.
That was Dern’s second loss in her last three fights, having also suffered a unanimous decision loss to Marina Rodriguez a year earlier, followed by a split decision win over Tecia Torres.
As such, Dern is now 7-3 overall in her UFC run and now holds the No.7 spot on the strawweight rankings as she prepares to go up against the No.12 placed Hill, who is coming off back-to-back decision wins over Lupita Godinez and Emily Ducote.
Those fights marked a welcome return to the win column for the 38-year-old, who had lost five of her previous six fights before that, leaving her overall UFC record standing at 10-12 heading into her next match-up.
Dern vs. Hill joins a UFC Fight Night 225 card that is expected to be headlined by Anthony Smith vs. Johnny Walker and will also feature Jailton Almeida vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Matt Brown vs. Court McGee.
