A strawweight fight between Mackenzie Dern and Tecia Torres is rumored to have been targeted for an upcoming UFC event in the Spring.
The match-up comes at a time when Dern is looking to get back on track after convincingly losing out to Marina Rodriguez by unanimous decision back in October of last year.
That brought an end to a four-fight winning streak for Dern, who had defeated the likes of Hannah Cifers, Randa Markos, Virna Jandiroba and Nina Nunes in the past couple of years, which means that she still holds down the No.5 spot in the division and No.14 on the women’s pound-for-pound rankings heading into her next match-up.
As for Torres, back in 2019 she was fighting for her place in the promotion after suffering a four-fight losing streak, but she’s since managed to turn things around with three wins in a row, beating the likes of Brianna Van Buren, Sam Hughes and most recently Angela Hill to climb back up to No.7 on the 115lb ladder.
At this stage there’s no exact date or location for the fight other than the fact that it will take place sometime during the UFC’s Spring season schedule, placing it somewhere between late March and June.
