Marcin Tybura Sleeps Tai Tuivasa With 1st Round Submission At UFC Fight Night 239

Marcin Tybura was able to choke Tai Tuivasa unconscious in the opening round of tonight’s heavyweight main event at UFC Fight Night 239 in Las Vegas.

Round One:

The heavyweight main event is underway in Las Vegas!

Tybura misses with a punch and kick. Low kick lands for Tuivasa. Another calf kick from him. Thumping elbows from Tuivasa.

Tybura trying to close the distance and clinch up, but he’s already bleeding from the scalp as they separate.

Low kicks from Tuivasa. Tybura threatening with a high kick attempt. Body kick from Tybura. Thumping low kick from Tuivasa.

Punches from Tybura as he drives into the clinch against the cage. Tybura working for a takedown attempt and Tuivasa is punching in the mean-time.

Tybura does manages to get him down and is now in half-guard throwing punches to the body and head close to the cage.

Tuivasa rolls to his knees and Tybura gladly takes his back. Tyrbura now landing heavy hooks to the sides of his opponent’s head. Tuivasa just remaining on his knees and eating these blows.

Tuivasa finally trying to escape, but is unsuccessful. It does buy him a brief respite from the punches though. Tybura starting to land again.

Now Tuivasa’s neck is exposed and Tybura gladly snatches it, trying to find a finish with the rear-naked choke. It looks in and you can hear Tuivasa struggling to breathe, but he’s not looking to tap-out. In the end though he succumbs to the choke and goes out, at which point the referee steps in to end the fight, with Tybura’s submission victory coming at 4.08mins of the first round.
