Marina Rodriguez vs. Virna Jandiroba Headed To UFC 288

A women’s strawweight fight between Marina Rodriguez and Virna Jandiroba will take place at UFC 288 on May 6th at a destination still to be confirmed at this time.

Rodriguez is coming off a third round TKO loss to Amanda Lemos back in November that brought an end to a four-fight winning streak for the Brazilian fighter.

the 35-year-old had done well to beat Amanda Ribas, Michelle Waterson, Mackenzie Dern and Yan Xiaonan, but the loss to Lemos put a dent in her title ambitions at 115lbs, though she does still hold the No.4 spot in the rankings.

Now Rodriguez fights another fellow Brazilian in the 34-year-old Jandiroba, who has been alternating between wins and losses in her last few fights, with wins over Felice Herrig, Kanako Murata and most recently Angela Hill being sandwiched in amongst losses to Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas, which leaves her ranked No.10 in the strawweight division.

Rodriguez vs. Jandiroba adds to a UFC 288 card that is expected to be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and the returning former double-champ Henry Cejudo, while Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush and Bryce Mitchell vs. Jonathan Pearce have also been confirmed for the show.
