Mario Bautista earned a victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 221 after landing a big suplex against Guida Cannetti in the opening round to set up a rear-naked choke finish.
Round One:
Cannetti working kicks immediately and Bautista returns fire. Bautista quickly has enough of that though and moves in for a takedown, landing it.
Buatista has plenty of time to work here and has Cannetti close to the center of the Octagon as he works from half-guard.
Bautista attempts to pass guard, but then settles back to half-guard. There’s a scramble and Cannetti gradually manages to work back upright, then goes into the body lock and lands a trip takedown.
Bautista quickly back up though and then brings him down. He’s working to the back and gets the body triangle in as Cannetti is trying to stand. Bautista stays on his back as he goes upright, but then stands off and lands a big suplex.
Bautista immediately sinking in a rear-naked choke and forces a quick tapout from Cannetti at 3.18mins of the first round.
