A bantamweight fight between Marlon Moraes and Song Yadong is in the works for UFC Fight Night 204 on 12th March of next year at a location still to be confirmed.
The fight comes at a time when the former long-time WSOF champion and former UFC title contender Moraes is in desperate need of a reversal in fortunes, having suffered three TKO losses in a row over the past two years ago.
It’s been an unexpected slide for the 33-year-old that began with a spinning wheel kick stoppage loss to Cory Sandhagen last year, which was then followed by Rob Font and Merab Dvalishvili both stopping him via punches.
So, Moraes is now hanging on by a thread to a top 10 spot on the bantamweight rankings as he prepares to now fight Yadong, who is currently in the No.14 position after his recent back-to-back victories.
Yadong has so far compiled a 7-1-1 record in the UFC and is coming off an impressive second round TKO victory over Julio Arce last month that saw him first rock his opponent with a head kick and then finish him with follow-up strikes.
Moraes and Yadong will join a UFC Fight Night 204 event that’s set to be headlined by a light-heavyweight fight between Thiago Santos and Magomed Ankalaev.
