Max Holloway Vs Frankie Edgar Official For UFC 222 Headliner

A featherweight fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar has been rebooked as the headliner for UFC 222 on March 3rd in Las Vegas.

Holloway Vs Edgar had orginally been scheduled to lead the UFC 218 show in December, but fell through after Edgar suffered a broken orbital bone while training for the fight.

‘Blessed’ went on to fight Jose Aldo for the second time in the space of just a few months on short notice instead, and again he got the better of the former champion by way of a third round TKO to retain his 145lb title.

Remarkably, Holloway’s current unbeaten stretch now extends to 12 fights spanning over a four year period, with his last loss being to Conor McGregor by unanimous decision in January of 2014.

As for Edgar, the former lightweight champion holds a 7-2 record in the featherweight division, with his only two losses being in title fights against Jose Aldo.

The 36-year-old is currently on a two-fight winning streak, having defeated Jeremy Stephens by decision and then rising star Yair Rodriguez by TKO to earn his third title shot opportunity in the weight class.

Holloway Vs Edgar leads a UFC 222 card that will also feature the likes of Stefan Struve Vs Andrei Arlovski, Cat Zingano Vs Ketlen Vieira and Hector Lombard Vs CB Dolloway alongside the debut of the much-hyped Mackenzie Dern Vs Ashley Yoder.
