Max Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie Announced For UFC On ESPN 50

Former featherweight champion Max Holloway’s next fight will see him take a trip to Singapore to face ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung in the main event of UFC On ESPN 50 on August 26th.

Given that both fighters have faced a who’s-who of 145lb talent over the years it’s somewhat surprising that their paths haven’t crossed before now.

For the 31-year-old Holloway the fight booking comes at a time when he’s coming off an important win over Arnold Allen in April that ended his opponent’s 10-fight winning streak in the UFC.

Prior to that Holloway had lost out in his attempt to reclaim the featherweight belt from his nemesis Alexander Volkanovski, who has now beat him on the scorecards on three separate occasions.

Despite that, Holloway still remains ranked No.2 in the division, having beaten just about everyone else he’s been put up against at 145lbs over the past nine years, including the likes of Yair Rodriguez, Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo (x2), Charles Oliveira, Frankie Edgar, Calvin Kattar and Anthony Pettis.

As for ‘The Korean Zombie’, the 36-year-old also failed in his attempt to beat featherweight champion Volkanovski in his last fight back in April of last year.

Before that TKZ had won three of his previous four fights against Dan Ige, Frankie Edgar and Renato Moicano.

Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie is the only major fight so far announced for the UFC On ESPN 50 show, which will mark the UFC’s 6th visit to Singapore over the years.
