Mike Malott earned a first round submission victory over Yohan Lainesse tonight at UFC Fight Night 220 in Las Vegas.
Round One:
Inside leg kick for Lainesse and Malott tries to respond with a kick of his own that misses.
Side kick to the body from Malott. Now a high kick attempt. Punch followed by a body kick from Malott.
Another couple of kicks from Malott, going to the midsection. Missed head kick from Lainesse. Body kick from Malott. Now a side kick to the body from him and then a punch.
Clubbing punch from Lainesse lands, but then at close range it’s Malott who is able to work a takedown. Malott in half-guard away from the cage and landing a few light punches to the head.
Lainesse trying to use butterfly guard to sweep, but Malott still manages to move back into half-guard. He’s working for an arm-triangle almost immediately and then passes to full mount while still applying the technique to force Lainesse to tapout at 4.15mins into the opening round.
