Mike Perry Beats Mickey Gall By Unanimous Decision At UFC On ESPN 12

Mike Perry earned a unanimous decision victory over Mickey Gall tonight at UFC On ESPN 12 with a mixture of striking and wrestling.

Round One:

Perry charges forward throwing heavy punches but doesn’t find the target. He’s backing Gall up early though.

Gall with a leg kick. Again Perry lets his hands go. but doesn’t quite land. Inside leg kick for Perry.

Exchange of punches there, two for Perry and one for Gall. Kick for Perry to the body. Now one to the leg.

Push kick from Perry. Counter hook for Gall. Now a solid body kick for Gall. Perry clinches up against the cage. He lands a knee to the leg and Gall does the same.

They break up from the clinch. Nice right hand counter from Gall. He lands another right hand.

Gall with a body kick and then tries a leg kick, but is off-balance. Again Gall lands a rangey punch.

Hard right hand from Perry and then another punch behind it. Gall overcommits to a punch and falls forward, but he’s fine and rights himself.

Perry still stalking here, but Gall is trying to gain his respect by throwing heavy leather himself.

Kick from Gall, but Perry grabs it and he’s looking for a takedown here. Perry has his back and goes for a big throw to bring him down. Perry has Gall’s back. Gall looking to turn into his opponent and almost does so, but Perry adjusts nicely and gets on top.

Final 10 seconds of the round and Perry is postured up landing some punches.

Round Two:

Head kick attempt from Perry comes off Gall’s guard. Body kick from Gall. He tries for a flying knee, but doesn’t quite land.

Kick for Perry. Body kick for Perry, but eats a counter punch. Nice right hook lands for Gall. Punch for him and then a takedown attempt, but Perry stuffs it and walks his opponent over to the cage.

Perry working the takedown himself and Gall drops down looking for a guillotine choke. Gall adjusts and somewhat has this, but Perry is aware and manages to move out of it, and remains on top.

Perry is in his guard. Gall tries to go for an armbar, but Perry avoids it. Perry in half-guard, but Gall goes for a kimura and uses that to sweep on top. Perry stands with Gall settling for clinching him up against the cage.

Gall down on his knees now trying to work for a takedown. Perry gets away and looks to get back to striking.

Right hgand for Perry. Gall presses forward with a right and then a left. Another right gets through for Gall.

Inside leg kick for Perry. Now a body kick. Perry connects with the jab. Body kick for Gall. Right hand for Perry and then hits him harder with another punch that lands behind the ear and Gall falls to the mat.

Perry gets on top and slams down a huge elbow and then another just as the round ends.

Round Three:

Left hand from Perry to start the final round. Inside leg kick. Now one for Gall. Gall doubling up on the right hand.

Series of uppercuts from Perry. Now he targets the body with punches and an inside leg kick. Perry jumps into a knee to the body.

Punch for Perry and presses forward, but gets stuck by Gall’s jab. Gall seeming tired and taking deep breaths now.

Stepping right hand from Perry. Now jabs. He lands a right again. Body punch. Gall backing up a lot. Combo of elbow and punches from Gall.

Nice left hand from Perry. One-two for Gall. Head kick attempt from Perry. Left hand. Perry into the clinch now against the cage and manages to land a takedown.

Perry adjusting on top but has to settle for half-guard. Perry getting into a crucifix position now, but before he can get much offense off Gall gets away from that.

However, Perry is able to move to full mount. Less than a minute to go. Perry taking his time. Gall manages to escape the mount, but doesn’t get back up afterwards.

Perry goes back down into his guard and Gall tries to work a triangle choke in the final 10 seconds, but Perry escapes it just before the final horn sounds.


So Perry showed his striking and ground skills tonight on his way to a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
