Mike Perry is in the public spotlight for all the wrong reasons today after being caught on camera knocking out an elderly man during a verbal altercation at a restaurant.
The video footage begins with Perry and his girlfriend starting to leave the restaurant, Table 62 in Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday night, amid allegations that he had hit somebody.
According to a witness, Perry had been asked to leave by an employee, who he had allegedly proceeded to punch in the eye, leaving the victim with multiple injuries. A witness also alleged that Perry had also struck a friend of his girlfriend while in the restaurant.
The video shows Perry stopping at the exit of the restaurant and continuing to argue with multiple people, despite his girlfriend’s insistence that he should leave.
Perry then homed in on the elderly, spectacle-wearing elderly gentleman, who was clearly annoyed that he had hit someone.
Perry then threatened to knock him out, and indeed when the man stepped towards him he proceeded to floor him with a single punch, with a witness stating that the victim’s head hit the concrete on the way down.
The UFC welterweight fighter then angrily shouted racial slurs multiple times while telling people to back off, and then sat down while waiting for the police to arrive.
According to a police report, the victim was still unconscious when they arrived and came too with no recollection of what had happened.
Perry was last seen in the Octagon just a couple of weeks ago, where he emerged with a unanimous decision victory over Mickey Gall.
The 28-year-old has been with the UFC since 2016, but is well known for having a chequered past before his MMA career took off, and had served time in jail for armed burglary.
