New Dana White Interview From Fight Island; Rules Out Texas For McGregor – Poirier

In a new interview from Fight Island ahead of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 180 event, Dana White spoke to the media about some of the big talking points in the sport, including Conor McGregor’s potential rematch with Dustin Poirier.

White confirmed that the UFC are looking to make the fight on January 23rd, but noted that they still have to agree on the deal with both fighters.

“[McGregor] said, ‘yes’ and Dustin said, ‘yes,’ so now it’s a matter of getting contracts signed,” White stated.

One potential snag is that McGregor had declared on social media after agreeing to the fight that he wanted it to take place at the Dallas Cowboy’s AT&T stadium in Texas, but White has now ruled that out as a possibility.

“Listen, we’ve had a very good relationship with Jerry Jones for a long time and talked about Dallas, Texas, stadium forever.

“I’m not going into any arena where we’re going to fill a quarter of the arena or half of the arena or any of that stuff, so when crowds are ready to come back we’ll do crowds again.”

Whether McGregor will still want to compete if it’s behind closed doors with no crowd involved remains to be seen.
