Nicco Montano Out Of This Weekend’s UFC Fight Night 167 Event

Nicco Montano’s turbulent time in the UFC has hit another setback as shes’ been forced out of her fight with Macy Chaisson at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 167 event in New Mexico due to an injury.

Montano reportedly has suffered a sprained MCL that’s left her unable to compete in what was to be only her third fight for the UFC since winning The Ultimate Fighter Season 26 and becoming the inaugural UFC flyweight champion in December of 2017.

Montano has been plagued by problems since then, starting with being taken to hospital after a bad weight cut prior to her next fight with Valentina Shevchenko, leading to her being stripped of her title.

Montano was then suspended for six months in late 2018 after testing positive for Ostarine, while her comeback fight last year was cancelled when her opponent Sara McMann pulled out injured.

Just days away from the event, the UFC have had to move quickly to find a replacement for Montano to keep Chaisson on the card, and they’ve managed to do that by bringing in Shanna Young, who has previously fought on the Contender Series and is currently with Invicta FC.

UFC Fight Night 167 now proceeds with a card that’s set to be headlined by Cory Anderson vs. Jan Blachowicz.
