Norma Dumont picked up a notable win over felicia Spencer tonight at UFC Fight Night 188 on the scorecards.
Round One:
Both fighters biding their time here as they circle each other. Spencer is the first to land with a double jab. Now a kick to the body.
Left hand for Spencer. She lands another kick to the body. Inside leg kick for Dumont. She lands another.
Now an outside leg kick for Dumont. Jab from Spencer. Inside leg kick for Dumont. Now a side kick to the body.
Front kick attempt from Spencer. spencer checks a leg kick. Side kick to the body from Spencer. left hook for Spencer. Dumont with a short flurry of punches.
In close Spencer lands a few short punches. Spencer works into the clinch against the cage. Dumont spins out and lands a nice knee to the body before heading back to the center of the Octagon.
Front kick to the body from Spencer. Outside leg kick for Dumont. Head kick attempt from Spencer and Dumont fires back with punches. Side kick to the knee from Spencer. Spencer attempts a head kick but eats a punch as she does so.
Round Two:
leg kicks exchanged. Another kick to the leg from Dumont. Side kick to the body from Spencer. Side kick upstairs now.
Body punch from Dumont. Spencer tries to clinch, but Dumont shoves her aside. Side kick to the knee from Spencer. Three piece combo from Dumont. Spencer tries to flurry, but Dumont lands nicely.
Jab for Spencer and a left hand counter from Dumont. Spencer misses with her kick upstairs. A couple of short right hand for Spencer.
Outside leg kick for Dumont. Solid left hand from Dumont off a combo. Low leg kick for Spencer. Stepping jab from Spencer, but Dumont’s quicker hands are causing her some problems.
Body punch and one upstairs from Dumont. Right hand for Spencer and then a side kick attempt upstairs. Spencer presses Dumont up against the cage. Dumont lands a nice knee to the body. Side kick to the head from Spencer.
Round Three:
Front kick to the body for Spencer. Spencer with a body kick and Dumont responds with punches.
Crescent kick attempt from Spencer upstairs. Exchange in close and Dumont catches Spencer off-guard by landing a takedown.
Dumont working from half-guard. Spencer brings her back to full guard. Dumont gets to half-guard as Spencer was working for a kimura, then they go back upright.
Spencer catches a kick and lands a punch. Kick to the body for Spencer. Brief scramble but doesn’t lead the fight to the mat for more than a moment. Spencer works the clinch against the cage. Spencer working elbows.
Spencer able to land a takedown. She’s in Dumont’s full-guard, but not pushing the action much from here. Final minutes is ticking down without much in the way of action, and it seems that Spencer is just happy to end the round on top and take this to the scorecards.
Decision:
A relatively close fight here, but Dumont was the sharper striker and even managed to take Spencer down early in the third round. The judges are split in their decision, but ultimately it’s Dumont who walks away with the win (30-27, 28-29, 29-28).
