Normally Stoic Ref Marc Goddard Admits To Screaming As Max Holloway KO’d Justin Gaethje

Marc Goddard had the honor of taking on refereeing duties for the BMF title fight at UFC 300 between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje, and like everybody else that night the long-time official was blown away by the former featherweight champion’s last second KO finish.

“I’d love the UFC to release the mic’d audio from me,“ Goddard wrote on X. “I literally screamed out at that ending, first time in 20 years. It was an automatic reaction I guess. I’m still speechless. Still have goosebumps. Both of these guys are the epitome of our sport. Sheer class. What a privilege.”

Goddard’s mic audio has since surfaced and you can watch and hear his reaction to the legendary moment in the video below.

Meanwhile, Holloway has admitted he’s revelling in watching everyone’s reaction to his instant-classic finish.

“It’s just amazing,” Holloway said on the Pat McAfee show. “Amazing to see people react, and then to see my peers react is even more crazy. Watching fighters geek out like fans, it’s a pretty cool thing to see. To hear Joe Rogan talk about it like that. Even Dana White — Dana White said that’s the craziest holy s*** moment ever he’s probably going to see for a long time.

“Hopefully we can top it. Everybody always thinks that there’s one moment, but hopefully we can replicate it and do even better.”
