Not In It For The Money, Dana White Driven To Make UFC Bigger Than Ever

In his new sit-down interview with Megan Olivi on Fight Pass, multi-millionaire Dana White claims that he’s never been in the sport for the money and instead continues to be driven by his desire to make the UFC bigger than ever.

White reportedly made in the region of $360 million when the UFC was sold to WME-IMG for $4.2 billion last year, leaving even his close friends to wonder why he was staying on as the UFC’s president.

“Rob Dyrdek called me after the sale, and he said, ‘I’ve got to ask you a question – how do you get up every day and run the race when you’ve already won the race?” White said during ‘The Exchange’ interview. “I want to know how you strap your f—-ng shoes on and go to work every day.’ I said, ‘Because I was never in it for the money.’ I don’t even think about the money. I’m not like, ‘woo-hoo, let’s go!’ It’s a weird thing. It’s not what I’m in it for.”

Instead, White is eager to see just how far he can take the UFC alongside WME-IMG boss Ari Emanuel, and that means continuing to expand the reach of the sport around the globe.

“The level that we’re gonna take this thing to is gonna blow people away,” White stated.. “And I’m taking globally. It’s gonna be so much bigger than this. So much bigger. We’re working on some cool sh-t.”
