Omari Akhmedov Defeats Tim Boetsch By Unanimous Decision At UFC FIght Night 146

In what could possibly have been his final fight before retiring, Tim Boetsch failed to leave with a victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 146, with Omari Akhmedov getting the nod on the scorecards by unanimous decision.

Round One:

Akhmedov just misses with a power punch. Boetsch commanding the center of the Octagon. Leg kick for Akhmedov and then tries to throw hooks, but doesn’t find the target.

They clinch up with Akhmedov pressing Boetsch up against the cage. He tries for a trip and then when that fails continues to try for the takedown, but Boetsch shows good balance to stay upright.

Akhmedov continues in the clinch though. He goes for a single-leg, switches to a double-leg, but nothing doing so far.

The finally seperate. Two mins of the round remaining. Low leg kick for Boetsch. Right hand just grazes Boetsch’s head. Right hook for Akhmedov.

Another right connects for Akhmedov. Leg kick for him now. He tries for a takedown, but it doesn’t pay off and Boetsch tags him with an uppercut for his troubles. Akhmedov swinging hard, but not finding the mark.

Round Two:

Leg kicks landed by bothh men to start. Push kick for Boetsch. Solid right hand gets through for Akhmedov and Boetsch’s nose might have been broken by that one.

Overhand for Boetsch now. Quick left for Akhmedov. leg kick for Boetsch. Akhmedov tries a head kick, but it’s blocked. Straight right for Akhmedov. Now a front kick upstairs.

Winging right hook just flies over Boetsch’s head. Boetsch still stalking, but not finding much offense here. Front kick for Boetsch, but Akhmedov counters with punches.

Boetsch lunges into a hook, but still misses. Low kick for Akhmedov. Akhmedov clinches up against the cage. Knee to the body. A knee to the groin from Boetsch forces a brief stoppage.

Back in the clinch they start again. Not much doing though until the end of the round.

Round Three:

Uppercut and an overhand right for Boetsch. Push kick for Boetsch. Another lands. Right hook for Boetsch. Leg kick for Akhmedov.

Right hook for Akhmedov and tries for the left behind it. Right hand for Boetsch. Lands a push kick, but can’t connect with the punches behind it.

Akhmedov catches a kick and lands a punch. Left hand scores for Akhmedov. Akhmedov starting to circle more, keeping out of range and the referee warns them to engage.

Boetsch still pressuring, but not able to get much offense going. Brief flurry from Akhmedov and Boetsch winces and touches his left eye.

He keeps fighting though. Solid body kick for Boetsch. Right hook wings over Boetsch’s head. Front kick for Boetsch to the body. Left hook landing for Boetsch as they traded for a moment on the inside.

30 seconds to go. Shovel hook for Boetsch. He tries for a trip, but Akhmedov stays upright and clinches up against the cage. They jockey for positionthere and that’s the final action of the fight.

Decision:

Akhmedov got the better of the action here then, leaving Boetsch with a broken nose and blood trickling from around his eyes and it’s enough to earn him a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x3).
