Paige VanZant And Amanda Ribas Signal Interest In Competing At ‘Fight Island’

Dana White’s intention to host UFC events on a private island during the coronavirus pandemic has sparked a lot of people’s imagination, and amongst those who are eager to compete there are Paige VanZant and Amanda Ribas.

“I’ll fight on an island too!! @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 @ufc,” PVZ claimed after White insisted he was still going out with the so-called ‘Fight Island’ idea after UFC 249 was cancelled.

VanZant had been scheduled to fight Amanda Ribas in March beore withdrawing due to an arm injury, but Ribas has now made it clear she still wants that match-up to happen, and sees the island as the perfect destination to turn that into a reality.

“I want to go to Dana’s Island,” Ribas confirmed to MMA Junkie. “She wants to go too, so let’s do it. I think it will be a good fight, not just for me, but for the fans, the UFC, too. She put that on the Twitter, (so) why not? I did a tweet (calling her out).”

According to White the infrastructure for this secret fight island destination is already underway and he hopes to have it completed in a months time, though it still remains to be seen whether they can get events back up and running there, and whether ESPN will give them the green light to air it.
