Paige VanZant’s combat sports career continued to nosedive last night at BKFC 19 as she picked up a unanimous decision loss against another former UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich.
PVZ already held an armbar submission win over Ostovich back in 2019 in the Octagon, but this time around they were fighting in bareknuckle boxing, and that swung the fight in her opponents favor.
Ostovich was making her BKFC debut after being released from the UFC following a three-fight losing streak, but she looked comfortable in the ring last night as she showcased the more powerful punches, tagging PVZ repeatedly over the course of the fight with her right hand and even appearing to rock her with one in the fourth round.
As usual, VanZant was a game opponent, but her punches weren’t having the same kind of impact and ultimately the fight went to the scorecards, where Ostovich picked up a unanimous decision victory (48-47 x2, 49-46).
The move to bareknuckle boxing was always a puzzling one for PVZ as though she is certainly tough, she’s never been noted for her boxing ability, and that’s led her to two losses in the sport so far, to go with the submission loss she ended her UFC career with.
