Paige VanZant Vs Rachael Ostovich Rumored For ESPN Debut In January

A fight between Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich is rumored to be under consideration for the UFC’s first event on ESPN on January 18th.

PVZ has been out of action since the start of January due to a broken arm that has now required surgery twice, but recently she indicated she was finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

“Just said yes to a fight date. PVZ is returning. #UFC,” VanZant wrote on August 18th.

Puzzlingly however, after the rumor of her fight with Ostovich emerged yesterday, she then denied she had a fight booked.

“#FakeNews..sorry everyone I’m not even cleared yet. Hoping to get cleared this week to slowly start back to training! Off to Vegas Thursday to see my doctor.”

Nevertheless, where there’s smoke there’s fire and it sounds like the right kind of fight for VanZant, who is currently battling through a tough spell in her career, with one one win from her last four Octagon outings.

That win came via an impressive head kick knockout against Bec Rawlings in August of 2016, but the 24-year-old has also suffered losses to Rose Namajunas, Michelle Waterson and most recently Jessice Rose-Clark.

As for Ostovich, she has only had two fights in the UFC, going 1-1 so far. She picked up a submission win over Karine Gevorgyan in December of last year, but then succumbed to a last gasp submission against Montana De La Rosa back in July.
