Pearl Gonzalez Vs Cynthia Calvillo Back On UFC 210 Card

Pearl Gonzalez Vs Cynthia Calvillo is back on tonight’s UFC 210 pay-per-view card after the New York State Athletic Commission reversed a decision to remove Gonzalez from the fight due to her breast implants.

Gonzalez had already successfully weighed in yesterday when the NYSAC informed her that fighters with breast implants were not permitted to fight in the state.

Needless to say Gonzalez was taken aback by this, particularly as she had previously informed the commission of her implants on her official paperwork, yet they hadn’t brought the issue to her attention until the day before the fight.

Thankfully it appears that after behind-the-scenes discussions, NYSAC officials did the right thing and decided that Gonzalez would be allowed to fight after all.

So, in some ways it’s a case of ‘all’s well that ends well’, but both fighters have had to go through a rollercoaster of emotions in the last 24 hours due to the uncertainty over whether their bout would be going ahead or not, while Gonzalez in particular has been left disappointed that something she would have preferred remained private is now public knowledge.

“I don’t think I wanted the world to know about my surgery and to be talked about like this,” Gonzalez said. “I have worked very hard to show how talented I am. I have a lot to bring to this division. And that’s what I would like to be known for.”
