Petr Yan Wants To Fight Deiveson Figueiredo At UFC 310

Petr Yan has targeted a clash of former champions for his next fight, with the ex-bantamweight titleholder now eyeing a match-up with former flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 310 in Las Vegas on December 7th.

“I want to fight on the last ppv card of the year ,” Yan announced on X.

When asked by a fan who he wanted to fight, Yan went on to completely butcher his intended opponents name, simply stating, “Figeredo.”

The 31-year-old Yan’s last Octagon appearance was in March when he earned a unanimous decision victory over Song Yadong at UFC 299.

That ended an uncharacteristic three-fight losing slump for the Russian, having lost to Aljamain Sterling by split-decision in their title fight back in April of 2022, followed by another split-decision loss to Sean O’Malley later that year and then a unanimous decision defeat against Merab Dvalishvili last year.

As for the 36-year-old Figueiredo, he moved up to bantamweight late last year after losing in the final instalment of his four-fight title fight series with Brandon Moreno at flyweight.

Figueiredo has made an immediate impact at 135lbs, beating Rob Font in December of last year, followed by a submission win over Cody Garbrandt at UFC 300 and then most recently a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera earlier this month.

So the No.3 ranked Yan vs. the 5th placed Figueiredo makes a lot of sense at this moment and time, but it’s now over to the UFC brass to see if they’ll make it a reality.
