Rafael dos Anjos Looking To Fight Veterans As Title Aspirations Fade

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has admitted that the door has likely now closed on his title aspirations after a fifth round KO loss to Rafael Fiziev last month, and as such he’s now looking to test himself against other well-known veterans of the sport instead.

The 37-year-old RDA had earned wins over Paul Felder and Renato Moicano after dropping back down to lightweight in 2020, which had fuelled hopes that perhaps he could battle his way back to a a title shot, but it seems that he’s now accepted that’s not going to happen and he has a list of potential fighters at both 155 and 170lbs that he feels would now be good match-ups for him at this late stage of his career.

“I had my last title run…and now it is time to fight people that motivates me to wake up and train,” Dos Anjos wrote on Twitter. “I have almost eight hours of octagon time…get me a veteran for a change! I would love to fight guys like Jim Miller, Jorge Masvidal, or get my rematch with Tony Ferguson or (Clay) Guida.”

“Wonderboy and Matt Brown at 170 would be options too,” Dos Anjos continued. “I’m always game…”
