Rashad Evans will return to action against Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 114 in Mexico City, Mexico on August 5th.
Evans made his middleweight debut last time out at UFC 209 in March, coming out on the wrong end of a split-decision against Daniel Kelly.
That marked the third loss in a row for the 37-year-old former light-heavyweight champion after also having tasted defeat against Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira, so he’ll see this upcoming fight as a must-win if he wants to get his career back on track and stave off talk of retirement.
As for Alvey, the heavy-handed 31-year-old is also coming off a loss by decision against Thales Leities in April.
However, prior to that Alvey had racked up a four-fight winning streak that culminated with a decision win over Nate Marquardt, which means he’s still hanging on to the No.14 spot on the 185lb rankings.
Evans Vs Alvey joins a UFC Fight Night 114 card that’s set to be headlined by a flyweight fight between Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno.
