A women’s flyweight fight between Rose Namajunas and Macy Barber has been announced as the main event for UFC Fight Night 243 in Denver, Colorado on July 13th.
The 31-year-old Namajunas came into 2024 having lost her last two fights, starting with a strawweight title loss in a rematch with Carla Esparza in 2022, followed by a unanimous decision loss to Manon Fiorot last year in her flyweight debut.
Namajunas has since got back on track that by beating Amanda Ribas by unanimous decision in March to claim her first win at 125lbs, leaving her ranked No.7 in the division.
Now she’ll go up against the 25-year-old Barber, who has gone on a six-fight winning streak in the division over the past three years.
Along the way Barber has picked up a string of credible wins over other flyweight notables like Miranda Maverick, Montana De La Rosa, Jessica Eye, Andrea Lee, Amanda Ribas and most recently Katlyn Chookagian in March to take the No.4 spot on the flyweight ladder.
Namajunas vs. Barber fronts a UFC Fight Night 243 event that will also feature another women’s 125lb bout between Viviane Araujo and Jasmine Jasudavicius, Gabriel Bonfim vs. Ange Loosa and Mike Malott vs. Gilbert Urbina.
