Sage Northcutt To Fight Claudio Puelles At UFC 214

Sage Northcutt

Sage Northcutt is set to get back into the Octagon at UFC 214 in Anheim, California on July 29th to face Claudio Puelles.

The 21-year-old Northcutt is coming off a loss to Mickey Gall by rear-naked choke at the tail-end of last year, and that leaves him with a 3-2 record overall in the UFC since joining in October of 2015 after being discovered on Dana White’s ‘Looking for A Fight’ show.

While the UFC have given Northcutt a considerable promotional push, it’s clear they still recongise he’s very much a work in progress, and as such he’s now facing another 21-year-old trying to find his feet in the UFC, in Puelles.

The Peruvian fighter, known as ‘El Nino’, was TKO’d in his UFC debut by Martin Bravo in November of last year, but prior to that he’d amassed a 7-1 record fighting in his homeland.

Northcutt Vs Puelles joins a UFC 214 fight card that’s beginning to rapidly fill up, with the main event light-heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones having now been joined by the likes of Renan Barao Vs Aljamain Sterling and The Korean Zombie Vs Ricardo Lamas, along with other notable bouts such as DooHo Choi Vs Andre Fili, Alexandra Albu Vs Kailin Curran and Josh Burkman Vs Drew Dober.
