Sean O’Malley will return to the Octagon to fight Marlon Vera at UFC 239 on July 6th during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
O’Malley will be making a comeback after serving a six month USADA suspension as the result of testing positive for Ostarine, which was later proven to have inadvertently got into his system due to a contaminated supplement.
Prior to his suspension O’Malley had been on a roll in the UFC, winning back-to-back fights against Terrion Ware and Andre Soukhamthath to take his career record to a perfect 10-0.
One of the first major prospects to emerge from Dana White’s Contender Series, O’Malley will now look to take a step up in competition against Vera, who holds a 7-4 record to date and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak against Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti and Frankie Saenz, all of who whom he finished inside the distance.
O’Malley Vs Vera joins a stacked UFC 239 card that will be headlined by light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who fights Thiago Santos, while Amanda Nunes returns to bantamweight to defend her belt against Holly Holm in the co-main event and elsewhere on the main card Francis Ngannou locks horns with Junior dos Santos, Luke Rockhold debuts at 205lbs against Jan Blachowicz and Jorge Masvidal fights Ben Askren.
