It’s been a long time since Sean O’Malley last set foot in the Octagon, but he’s finally going to do just that against Jose Quinonez at UFC 247 in Houston, Texas on February 8th.
O’Malley first came to people’s attention with an impressive run on the Contender Series, which was followed by two victories in the UFC to take his career record to a perfect 10-0.
However, O’Malley was then flagged by USADA after testing positive for Ostarine, but it was later established that it came from a contaminated supplement and he was only suspended for six months.
Unfortunately he was then pulled again after trace amounts of Ostarine were still found to be in his system, even though it was just a residual amount from the previous contaminated supplement and wasn’t giving him any kind of competitive advantage.
So O’Malley has been forced to sit out for the best part of two years as a result, but not has finally been given the green light to return against Quinonez, who has won five of his last six fights in the UFC.
O’Malley vs Quinonez joins a UFC 247 card that will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes, while Valentina Shevchenko also looks to defend her flyweight title against Kaitlyn Chookagian.
