Sean Strickland ‘Here For’ Fan Negativity Towards Jon Anik As Other Stars Support Commentator

Sean Strickland has reacted to UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik’s claims this week that he may quit his job due to the fan negativity he’s received since stating that he thought Dricus du Plessis deservedly won the middleweight title at UFC 297 last weekend.

“What id say to Jon Anik calling mma fans ‘The lowest common denominator,'” Strickland wrote on X.

“These people are way you have a paycheck, and you make way more than most… Maybe the NFL is a better choice for you than MMA….

Also you guys are a bunch of savage c*nts.. I’m here for it…..”

Strickland’s lack of empathy towards Anik didn’t appear to reflect the opinion of the majority of other fighters though, with many rallying round to support Anik.

Matt Brown: “I hope @Jon_Anik knows that the VAST majority of us love him and know that he’s great for the sport. The ones being negative and talking stupid shit are the minority and hate their own lives so much that they try to project that on to those in the spotlight. Fuck em! Do you Jon!”

Gilbert Burns: “My man @Jon_Anik is a legend on the commentary!”

Dricus du Plessis: “@Jon_Anik thank you for everything you’ve done for our sport! In my opinion the best commentator in the @ufc booth.”

Paulo Costa: “Jon anik is the man ! @Jon_Anik the best we have guys.”

Terrance McKinney: “Y’all better not make Jon Anik quit.”

Muhammad Mokaev: “@Jon_Anik you’re legend .”

Coach John Kavanagh: “As the great @ForrestGriffin told me many years ago – post, don’t read. Jon is truly brilliant at what he does. Stay at it brother, just avoid the comments.”
