Sodiq Yusuff Now Fights Don Shainis At UFC Fight Night 211

Sodiq Yusuff was supposed to be fighting Giga Chikadze in the co-main event of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 210 event until his opponent withdrew from the fight with just a week to go until fight night in Las Vegas.

As such, it’s now been confirmed that Yusuff won’t be fighting this weekend, but he has now been lined up to fight Don Shainis instead at UFC Fight Night 211 on October 1st.

Yusuff heads into the fight coming off a unanimous decision win over Alex Caceres in March, which saw him end his opponent’s five-fight winning streak and take the No.12 spot on the featherweight rankings.

The 29-year-old Yusuff had seen his own four-fight unbeaten stretch ended just a fight earlier when he came out on the wrong side of a unanimous decision verdict against Arnold Allen last year.

Now he’ll go up against a debuting fighter in the 30-year-old Shainis, who has compiled a 12-3 record on the regional scene and arrives in the Octagon off a five-fight winning streak, including 4 TKO finishes, while fighting for the Cage Titans promotion.

Yusuff vs. Shainis joins a UFC Fight Night 211 card that is expected to be headlined by a women’s strawweight fight between Mackenzie Dern and Yan Xionan, with other confirmed fights including Francisco Trinaldo vs. Randy Brown and Ilir Latifi vs. Oleksei Oleinik.
