Thiago Alves Vs Mike Perry Targeted For UFC 215

A welterweight fight between Thiago Alves and Mike Perry is expected to go down at the as-yet unnanounced UFC 215 event on August 19th, with Seattle believed to be the likely destination for the show.

The 33-year-old Alves heads into this fight off a unanimous decision win over Patrick Cote at UFC 210 back in April.

Prior to that Alves followed a TKO loss to Carlos Condit in 2015 with an ill-advised drop down to lightweight, which saw him miss weight by over 6lbs for a fight with Jim Miller that he’d lose by unanimous decision.

As for the 25-year-old Perry, he notched up what’s been touted as one of the knockouts of the year in his last Octagon outing at UFC Fight Night 108 in April after KO’ing Jake Ellenberger with a brutal elbow strike.

In total Perry has put together a 3-1 record in the UFC so far, with his only loss coming to Alan Joubain on the scorecards at the tail-end of 2016.

Alves Vs Perry is the second fight to be attached to the UFC 215 event, with Hector Lombard Vs Anthony Smith being unveiled by UFC President Dana White on the ‘UFC Unfiltered’ podcast earlier in the week.

At this stage it’s not clear whether the aforementioned bouts will appear on the pay-per-view portion of the card or not, though it’s probably safe to conclude that neither is expected to serve as either the main or co-main event of the evening.
