Thiago Santos Tests Positive For Covid-19; Fight With Glover Teixeira Postponed Again

A fight between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira has had to be postponed for a second time due to Covid-19.

The bout was first put on the backburner earlier in the month when Teixeira tested positive for the virus prior to their headlining bout at UFC Fight Night 177, with the fight then being rescheduled as the co-main event for October 3rd, but now it’s had to be pushed back again after Santos also received a positive test.

In other Covid related news, Eduardo Garagorri has been pulled from his fight with Mirsad Bektic this coming weekend at UFC Fight Night 178 after one of his cornermen came down with coronavirus.

At this stage it’s not clear whether Bektic will stay on the card or not.

Meanwhile, recently retired star Daniel Cormier has revealed he tested positive for Covid-19 during his training camp for UFC 252.

According to Cormier in an interview with Yahoo! Sports, he tested positive in mid-July after another teammate at American Kickboxing Academy had also been diagnosed with the illness.

However, he experienced only very mild symptoms and was able to “take care of myself properly” and then continue to prepare for the fight.

Cormier also insisted that he wasn’t using his Covid diagnosis as an excuse and said that Stipe Miocic won their trilogy fight fair and square.
