Tim Elliott Defeats Sumudaerji By 1st Round Submission At UFC Fight Night 233

Tim Elliott’s decision to step-in on short notice to fight Sumudaerji tonight at UFC Fight Night 233 paid off as he secured a first-round submission victory.

Round One:

Elliott comes out with an acrobatic strike to start. Sumudaerji unphased though and is soon settling into his own striking game, landing the jab. Elliott landing to the calf though.

Sumudaerji with a kick but Elliott catches it. Sumudaerji able to stay upright though. Sumudaerji lands to the jab and whips to the body too.

Elliott catches a kick again and attempts a takedown, landing an elbow in the process. Now he does land the takedown and he still has half the round to work. Light hammerfists from him. He tries to pass guard now and moves towards side control. Sumudaerji is bleeding here as he tries to get his legs into play to keep Elliott at bay.

Elliott working for an arm-triangle submission and smoothly moves off to the side to lock it in tightly. It doesn’t look like Sumudaerji is going to be able to get out of this, and sure enough he goes to sleep and the fight is over! Nice submission win for Elliott after accepting this fight on just a few days notice.
