Tom Aspinall continued his impressive heavyweight run in the main event of UFC Fight Night 204 in London with a first round submission win over Alexander Volkov.

Round One:

The heavyweight main event is underway in London, England.

Calf kick from Aspinall. Nice three-piece combo upstairs from Aspinall. He lands another fast right hand. Volkov with two quick kicks in a row.

Low kick from Aspinall is checked this time. Aspinall goes in for his first takedown of the evening and lands it close to the cage.

Aspinall in half-guard. Volkov trying to control his arm, but Aspinall is still able to drop down some hard elbow strikes.

Aspinall finds space to land heavier elbows and then punches. Volkov already bleeding significantly and is trying to scramble upright, almost getting caught in a kimura in the process. Volkov gets out of that and back to his feet though.

Aspinall lands a leg kick. Right hand over the top connects too. Aspinall lands to the body and then doubles up on the jab. Another leg kick lands. He tries again for a kick, but slips, but is fast back to his feet.

Volkov tries to land a long punch, but Aspinall expertly dodges that and goes straight into a smooth takedown.

Aspinall bossing this fight so far and to make matters worse for Volkov, he’s now going for a straight armlock and Volkov is forced to tap before he blows out his elbow at 3.45mins of the first round.

Impressive stuff from Aspinall then in his biggest fight to date, taking his winning streak in the UFC to five fights, and in his post-fight interview he calls out one of the division’s other fast-rising contenders Tai Tuivasa.
