Tony Ferguson And Jon Jones Trash-Talk Leads To Controversy

Jon Jones found an unlikely new verbal sparring twitter on social media yesterday in No.1 lightweight contender Tony Ferguson, and things soon turned ugly between them.

“Lot Of Shit Talk @JonnyBones,” Ferguson initially wrote to Jon Jones. “You Wanna Play Again Like We Did In College? I Bumped Up Two Weight Classes & I’ll Do It Again. Growth. You Wanna Play Chess I’ll Be Your Huckleberry. Got You In 2 Neanderthal, Talked To Your Pops He Knows Who’s Champ. # Anklepick # DavidVSGoliath.”

“Wait, when did this beef start? I thought we were cool!!” Jones responded. “You over there feeling suicidal Tony?”

It’s clear Jones was referring to Ferguson’s well-documented mental health issues in recent times, which led to his wife seeking a temporary restraining order and the fighter seeking professional help, before getting his life back on track and returning to the Octagon with a TKO win over Donald Cerrone back in June.

However, after receiving a backlash from fans for his low blow, Jones quickly deleted his post and claimed he had no knowledge of Ferguson’s personal issues.

“Yeah bro, I just show up and kick a few asses a few times a year. Don’t really sit around and read other fighters articles,” Jones wrote to one fan.

“Definitely knew nothing about my guy having any mental health issues, I do now though. I apologize for my response back to him and moving on,” Jones added.
