Tyson Fury Wants Boxing Match With Francis Ngannou In A Cage

Boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has reiterated his interest in having a boxing match with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou after ‘The Predator’ vacated the title and left the promotion to become a free agent recently.

And Fury has thrown in a few novel twists to the normal boxing scenario by suggesting that the match-up take place in a cage with MMA-sized four-ounce gloves.

“Francis Ngannou, I know you’re out of contract with the UFC,” Fury said during an interview with Seconds Out. “You want to earn some big boy money? Come see ‘The Gypsy King’ and let’s do a big, big fight for the baddest MF on the planet.

“Let’s kick it up spicy, in a cage, four-ounce gloves under Queensbury [rules] and let’s have a badass referee like ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. Did I just sell that to the world?”

“If the contract doesn’t get signed with Usyk next for the fight of the century in boxing then we’ll do the Ngannou fight.

“Whether it’s going to be in Las Vegas or Wembley [Stadium], who will know—we will know quite soon I think.”

In all honesty things like having a boxing match in a cage seems a bit pointless and more of a gimmick than any kind of advantage in Ngannou’s favor, but this is the kind of money-spinning match-up that the ex-UFC champ left the UFC to be able to take, so if it’s offered to him he’ll grab it with both hands.
