UFC 235 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 235 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

‘Fight Of The Night’ honors went to a crazy stand-up war between Pedro Munhoz and Cody Garbrandt that kicked off the main card on pay-per-view.

Munhoz had troubled the former champion with leg kicks early in the first round, but then a clash of heads hurt Garbrandt. However, rather than wilt, he came back even more aggressively and started swinging for the fences with reckless abandon.

Unfortunately for him, Munhoz didn’t back off and instead starting trading bombs with him with little thought for defense, and from that moment on it was only a matter of time before one of them was felled, and it proved to be Garbrandt who sunk to the mat after Munhoz tagged him with a right hook and then finished him on the for the TKO victory.

Earlier in the evening Johnny Walker again racked up a swift finish after he landed a flying knee with punches to follow to claim a knockout over Misha Cirkunov in just 36 seconds and bank a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus as well.

Diego Sanchez also earned a performance bonus after he was able to claim a TKO victory over Mickey Gall by way of ground and pound in the second round.
