UFC 241 Post-Fight Bonus Awards

Following last night’s uFC 241 event in Anaheim, California the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was an incredibly hard-hitting battle between two middleweight giants, Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero.

The two gave a sign of things to come in the first round when both hit the deck from single strikes from their opponent, but in the rounds that followed neither stopped hurling heavy leather and ate big shots, giving the impression that the fight could end at any moment, making it even more remarkable that they went the distance, with Costa ultimately emerging with a unanimous decision victory.

Meanwhile, in the main event Stipe Miocic earned a performance bonus after he gained revenge over Daniel Cormier and reclaimed the heavyweight title after a highly competitive fight that he appeared to be coming up second best in.

Cormier’s fast hands often saw him landed the cleaner, heavier shots during the opening three rounds, despite a big height and reach advantage, although he was often throwing caution to the wind himself as he ate hard punches too.

However, in the fourth round Miocic suddenly changed his strategy and began landing ripping left hooks to the body and they soon started to take their toll. Then Miocic went upstairs and landed two thunderous right hands that sent DC reeling back against the cage, before more blows sunk him to the canvas for a TKO victory.

Also earning a performance award on the night was Khama Worthy who did indeed prove himself to be worthy when he stepped in on a week’s notice to fight Devonte Smith and TKO’d him late in the opening round.
