UFC 264 on July 10th will take place in Las Vegas, but the promotion are stepping away from their own fan-free APEX facility and instead will be bringing the action live to 20,000+ fans at the T-Mobile Arena.
Dana White confirmed the news on Twitter as he revealed that tickets for the show will be available this week.
It’s a big announcement, but comes only a short time after Conor McGregor threw a potential spanner in the works by claiming that he would no longer be fighting Dustin Poirier in a highly anticipated trilogy bout after being accused by his rival of not paying out on a promised $500,000 charity donation.
However, it could well be that’s just a bluff as White is continuing to state today that the event will indeed be headlined by Poirier vs. McGregor III.
Still, the timing is far from ideal, but nonetheless, McGregor had suggested that he would still fight at the event anyway against a different opponent, and given that fans haven’t had an opportunity to attend a big UFC event in Las vegas for over a year, it’s likely that the tickets will sell out fast anyway.
As things stand the UFC now has three full-capacity arena shows planned, with UFC 261: Usman vs. Masvidal II set to be the first in Jacksonville, Florida next weekend, followed by UFC 262: Oliveira vs. Chandler in Houston, Texas on May 15th.
