UFC 277 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 277 event in Dallas, Texas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning the ‘Fight Of The Night’ award was the co-main event flyweight interim title clash between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France.

In the first couple of rounds the fighters were fairly evenly matched, but Kara-France drew bled in the third with strikes while Moreno was on the mat. Back on the feet however, Moreno was starting to press forward with more urgency and he stepped into a big liver kick that send his opponent collapsing to the canvas in pain, and he was unable to recover as ground-and-pound rained down, leading to the TKO stoppage.

Drew Dober took home a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he survived some high-intensity offense from Rafael Alves early in the fight, and then upped his own aggression levels while pushing a hard pace, leading to some exciting exchanges. Then in the third round Dober was again on the attack when he landed a big body punch that folded up Alves a few moments later for a KO finish.

Also securing a performance bonus was Alexandre Pantoja, who started his fight with Alex Perez in top gear as he instantly rushed right up to his opponent firing off left and right hands. He then created a scramble via a trip, got to his opponents back as he stood and hopped up onto him, before setting up a standing rear-naked choke that wasn’t all the way under the chin, but nonetheless still forced his opponent to submit just 91 seconds into the bout.
