Following last night’s UFC 286 event in London the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the co-main event battle between Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev, which went the full 15 minutes.
In the first round of the fight it was Fiziev that appeared to have the edge with his accurate striking and impressive speed. As the fight went on Gaethje was steadily finding more success though and by third round he began to take over, finding success utilizing a solid jab and uppercuts to leave Fiziev increasingly bloodied, with a late takedown sealing the deal to emerge with a majority decision win (29-28 x2, 28-28).
Gunnar Nelson was one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ winners after he served up a reminder of his slick grappling skills by submitting Bryan Barbarena with an armbar in the first round of their main card fight.
Meanwhile, Jake Hadley took just 61 seconds to score a TKO finish against Robert Malcolm after landing a brutal punch to the body that folded up his opponent.
